Sergey Golunov

Golunov Sergey

Sergey V. Golunov is a Doctor of Political Science whose main job is a Read Researcher at the Institute of World Economy and International Relations (Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow). He previously worked as a Professor of the Center for Asia-Pacific Future Studies of Kyushu University (Fukuoka, Japan), a Research Fellow of the Centre for EU-Russian Studies (University of Tartu, Estonia), a Marie Curie Research Fellow in Durham University (UK), and various positions up to Professor at Volgograd State University.

His research focuses mainly on Russian, post-Soviet, and EU border issues, non-traditional security challenges in the post-Soviet space, conspiracy theorizing in Russia, and malpractices in post-Soviet higher education. He is author of about 190 articles and several monographs including Elephant in the Room: Corruption and Cheating in Russian Universities (Stuttgart: Ibidem-Verlag, 2014), EU-Russian border security issues: challenges, (mis)perceptions, and responses. (Routledge, 2012) and Russia-Kazakhstan border: security and International cooperation issues (Volgograd State University Press, 2005, in Russian).
