Artem Malgin

As Vice-Rector Dr. Malgin supervises cooperation with graduates and partners (MGIMO Endowment and Alumni Association), public relations, MGIMO-Odintsovo, the School of Business and International Proficiency, ASEAN Centre, and the Russian International Studies Association (RISA).
In 1996, Dr. Malgin graduated with honors from MGIMO School of International Relations and entered a post-graduate programme. In 1997, he did a 6-month Executive course on security, defence and defence economics at G.Marshall European Center for Security Studies, Garmish-Partenkirchen, Germany and became a distinguished graduate. In 2000, he defended his Ph.D. thesis on the European Union Politics in the Mediterranean in 1950s-1990s.
Dr. Malgin began his career at MGIMO in 1996–2001 as a Lecturer and later a Senior Lecturer. In 1996–2001 he was a local secretary of the TEMPUS-TACIS Project T-Jep on the history of international relations. In 2000, he became Vice-Dean of the Foreign Students Department. Between 2001 and 2004 he was Deputy Director of the Post-Soviet Studies Centre at the University. Since 2002 he has been the Associate Professor at the Department of International Relations and Foreign Policy of Russia. Dr. Malgin worked as Counsellor to MGIMO Rector from 2004 to 2013. In 2012 he became the Vice-Rector on General Affairs and Corporate Relations.
Apart from his career in MGIMO, Artem Malgin he was involved in several other projects. In 1996–1999 he was an expert on international relations and international law at the Moscow Public Science Foundation. In 1996–2003 he worked at the MSU Research Institute on Social Systems as an expert in foreign policy, security and information support for actions abroad. In 2002–2003 he was the Chief Editor of INO-Centre information projects. In 2005–2008 he was an expert on foreign policy issues and energy policy information support at MMD Corporate and Public Affairs company (“Rosneft”). Since 2008 he has been the secretary of the Russian–Polish Group on Difficult Issues. Between 2009 and 2011 he worked as an expert on foreign policy issues and energy policy information support at Navona company, a subsidiary of the Nord Stream. In 2011, he founded Eastern Europe: Prospects, a Russian European & Post-Soviet Affairs magazine and became its Chief Editor. Since 2013 he has been a member of the Scientific Board of the Russian Security Council. In 2014–2016 he was the Rector of Odintsovo Humanities University.

- Letter of Appreciation from the Head of the Presidential Administration for «Active participation in preparation and organization together with the Russian Presidential Commision on Fighting Against Rewriting of History to the Detriment of Russia a series of events devoted to the 70th anniversary of the beginning of WWII» (2009).
Areas of Research Interest:
International relations in the Post-Soviet countries and in Central and Eastern Europe; Russian foreign policy; information support of foreign policy.
Dr. Malgin is the author of more than 100 publications, textbooks, chapters in monographs and scientific papers. He is also part of professional associations such as Russian International Studies Association, Russian Council on International Affairs, Russian Society of Political Scientists.
Dr. Malgin is fluent in English, Polish, French and speaks Italian.
