Stepanova Ekaterina

Lead researcher and Head of Peace and Conflict Studies Unit, Primakov National Research Institute of the World Economy & International Relations (IMEMO). She is a Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) Professor. She lectures in English at Social Sciences Institute, Russian Academy of National Economy & Public Administration and European University in Saint-Petersburg.

She authored 180 publications on armed conflicts, terrorism, conflict management, peace-building, ideological / religious extremism, human security, and political economy of conflicts, including «Terrorism in Asymmetrical Conflict» (Oxford University Press, 2008). Her 2016 publications include a chapter on Russia in The Oxford Handbook of the Responsibility to Protect and articles in «Politique etrangere» (France) and «Interdisciplinary Journal for Religion and Transformation in Contemporary Society» (Vienna University).

She serves on editorial boards of «Global Governance», «Terrorism and Political Violence» and «International Journal of Conflict and Violence» and is a member of Global Peace Index expert panel. In 2007-2009, she led the Armed Conflicts and Conflict Management Program at Stockholm International Peace Research Institute.
