Anton Zakharov

Dr. Anton O. Zakharov is Leading Research Fellow of the Institute of Oriental Studies, Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow, and Head of Department of Area Studies and International Relations in the Oriental University, Moscow.
Anton O. Zakharov’s research interests are the state formation in early Southeast Asia and in the Ancient World as well as theory of historical knowledge and Russian history. He also conducts research in classical Sanskrit literature.
Anton O. Zakharov extensively publishes in Russian and international journals. He is the author of five monographs, History of Ancient Orient: a Textbook (Moscow: Oriental University, 2016, in Russian) and Political History of Central Vietnam in the Second — Eighth Centuries: Linyi and Campā (Moscow: Oriental University, 2015) among them. He obtained his Habilitation or Doctor of Historical Sciences degree from the Institute of Oriental Studies in 2013.
Anton O. Zakharov is Representative of Russian Federation in the Board of the European Association of Southeast Asian Studies (EuroSEAS) since 2010. He also is Member of Russian Oriental Society.
