COURSES AND GRADING

Courses are spanided into core and electives. Students usually choose one elective course from a group of two or three courses. From Year 3, students are offered several groups of electives each semester.

Course grading may include a final exam. Exams—up to five per semester—are held during examination sessions in January and July.

MEDICAL INSURANCE

MGIMO offers students modern health care and emergency medical services. The outpatient university medical center employs general practitioners, ENT doctors, opticians, dentists, and others. The clinic has state of the art medical equipment. Students can be referred for inpatient care to some of the best Moscow hospitals. International students can purchase medical insurance from MGIMO and get access to the university medical center at the price of around 150 euros per year.

SPORTS CENTER

SGIA students are invited to partake in a vast array of sport activities, including soccer, basketball, volleyball, tennis, badminton, water polo, table tennis, shooting, and martial arts.

Students have access to the gym offering a full range of exercise equipment and professional coaches. A six-lane swimming pool is located at the MGIMO Sports Center which is considered to be one of the best university fitness facilities in Moscow. The Sports Center has halls for volleyball, basketball, and other games as well as an indoor tennis court, wrestling room, aerobics, and table tennis rooms.

There is an outdoor stadium with a professional football field, open-air tennis and volleyball courts and an ice skating rink in the winter. Members of the student sport clubs also ski in the winter and play golf in the summer.

Physical training lessons are mandatory for junior undergraduates. Students may either attend regular training sessions or join a sport section.
