Princeton University’s Michael Reynolds starts guest course on US policy in the Middle East

A course entitled US Foreign Policy toward the Middle East since 1979 by the Director of the Princeton program in Russian, Eastern European and Eurasian Studies Michael Reynolds has started at the MGIMO School of Government and International Affairs.

In the spring semester of the 2021/22 academic year, Mr. Reynolds was awarded a Fulbright scholarship and is working in Moscow. Apart from Russian studies, Michael Reynolds specializes in history, internal and foreign policy of the Ottoman Empire and modern Turkey. His main publication is the book entitled Shattering Empires: The Clash and Collapse of the Ottoman and Russian Empires 1908–1918 (Cambridge University Press, 2011).

As a visiting professor at MGIMO University, Michael Reynolds invites BA and MA students to analyze the last four decades of US policy in the Middle East. Based on the historical principle, the course is aimed at making students understand the driving forces, toolkit and patterns of the modern US policy in the Middle East.
