Vadim Fridburg (28.10.2002–03.01.2021)

We mourn the death of Vadim Fridburg, first-year student at the School of Government and International Affairs. Vadim died on January 3rd due to covid-19 complications. He joined the School in September and celebrated his 18th birthday in October. Before choosing MGIMO for his undergraduate studies, Vadim attended high schools in Russia, Switzerland, and Canada. A fan of sports, he was about to enrol in university sports clubs when a new period of distance learning began this past fall. In his motivation essay, he wrote that exposure to multiple cultures and traditions across the world over his relatively short lifespan, left him with the impression of unnecessary divides running across societies. He was determined to help heal those divides as an international relations professional. Vadim will be remembered.
